Bringing Healthcare Closer to Akonkye

We, the Rita El Roi Trust Foundation extended our mission of love and care to the beautiful community of Akonkye in the Atwima Mponua District. Understanding the challenges many rural communities face in accessing quality healthcare, we partnered with the National Health Insurance Service to provide both medical aid and full support for the registration and renewal of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for residents of all ages.

The day began with free medical screenings where residents were attended to by caring health professionals. For many, it was their first time receiving such comprehensive medical attention right in their own community. Alongside the medical care, NHIS registration booths were set up to ensure that everyone, young and old could sign up for or renew their health insurance, giving them access to affordable healthcare year round.

The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and excitement as residents realized the importance of this initiative in reducing barriers to healthcare. Local leaders expressed their deep appreciation, noting how this outreach would improve health outcomes and bring lasting benefits to the entire community.

One touching moment came when an elderly resident shared how she had postponed medical visits for years due to financial constraints. With tears in her eyes, she thanked the team for giving her and many others a new sense of hope and security.

The visit to Akonkye was more than just a health initiative. It was a promise that no community would be left behind when it comes to healthcare access and support.
